COMPOSITE DECKS
The Pros and Cons of Composite Decking
Pros
Low Maintenance: Requires an occasional cleaning with soap and water to stay beautiful.
Built to Last: It's engineered to resist rot, warping, splintering, and insect damage, giving you a deck that will look great for decades.
Safe for the Family: The smooth, consistent surface means no splinters, making it perfect for bare feet and pets.
Cons
Higher Upfront Cost: The initial investment for composite decking is higher than for pressure-treated wood.
Heat Retention: In direct sunlight, darker colors can get hotter than traditional wood decks.
Not Indestructible: While durable, it's not completely scratch-proof. You'll want to use furniture pads and be careful when moving heavy objects.
Still Needs Cleaning: "Low maintenance" doesn't mean "no maintenance." You'll still need to clean it periodically to prevent mold and mildew growth.
